What does volumetric weight mean in air freight?

The cost of a shipment can be affected by the amount of space that it occupies on an aircraft, rather than the actual weight. This is the volumetric (or dimensional) weight. You can use the following formula to obtain volumetric weight in kgs. L x W x H ” / 366 or L x W x H cms / 6000.
