Exporting Chicken or Chicken Products from Canada to the USA

Exporting chicken or chicken products from Canada to the USA is a straightforward process – especially if you’re using our handy checklist of documents that you need to have in place.

Here are the required documents:

1. US Customs Invoice / Bill of sale

2. FDA Data Sheet (Link?)

3. CFIA 5733 – Certificate of Inspection Covering Meat & Poultry Products
Driver must have Original Document when crossing into the USA

4. CFIA Annex (E) A9 – Veterinary Certificate for Poultry & Meat Products
Driver must have Original Document when crossing into the USA

5. CFIA Annex (E) A-1
Driver must have Original Document when crossing into the USA

6. CFIA Annex H – Export Application

7. FSIS Form 9540-1 – Export Application

8. Confirm Quota Holder:
In regards to shipments containing Chicken, they may be under Quota in Canada. Before shipping into the USA, you will need to contact the Manufacturer/Supplier of the chicken to verify if it is under Quota.  If it is in fact under Quota in Canada, the Importer of Record for will need to be the Company in Canada that exports the chicken from Canada into the USA under IREP – Import for Re-Export Program.
