What is a BN number and how do you get one?

The Business Number (BN) has 15 digits. There are nine digits to identify the business, plus two letters to identify the program and four to identify the program for each account.

You can register for a business number by calling the CRA at 1-800-959-5525. You may also obtain a BN by registering on-line at www.businessregistration.gc.ca or by completing the Form RCI.
